GUIDE

What is cut and sew?

Cut and sew is the way most serious clothing brands produce: the garment is created from scratch, from raw fabric to your exact pattern, instead of printing on a ready made blank.

How cut and sew works

A pattern is made for your design, fabric is cut to that pattern, and the pieces are sewn together to your construction spec. Fit, fabric, stitching and trims are all yours to define.

The process usually runs: design or reference, pattern making, sampling and fitting, then bulk production and quality control.

Cut and sew versus private label

Private label starts from existing blanks or factory blocks, so it is faster but less unique. Cut and sew gives you full control of fit and fabric, which is what makes a product feel like a real brand.

When your brand needs it

Choose cut and sew when fit and fabric quality matter to your customers, when you want details blanks cannot offer, or when you are building a line you plan to sell for years.
